====Minutes from September 21,2002 Meeting
-from Secretary Libby Mills

11:30 a.m. the meeting was called to order, 20 attendees.

2 new members:
Michele Acampora from North Haven and
Karen Keane from Milford.
We now have 43 members.

The Guild celebrated its 5th year anniversary!
There was no demo scheduled for this meeting.

Sharon is compiling a list of the guild's & guild members' accomplishments. Copies were passed around for everyone to look over. Please let her know if you have anything to add. She would like to publish the list in a month or two. Sharon also brought the Guild's very first newsletter: 9/20/97, 13 members in attendance at that meeting. A review of the guild's accomplishments followed, including awards, meetings, demos (Jody & Laura have done the most demos so far), clay days (14), exhibits, guild raffle chain, articles, classes, BOH workshops, shows, retreats. Bead strands, and much more!

Michelle Raffaele has resigned as Secretary. Libby Mills has volunteered to fill in. Lynne Schwarzenberg will fill in for Libby when necessary, and as Editor of NaN when necessary.

Announcement: the Bottles of Hope have been juried into the Yale Physician's Bldg Art Place, 800 Howard Ave, New Haven. This is a joint exhibit with other artists who have ties to Yale and it will run for 6 months. Website: http://www.ynhh.org/directio/d_ypb.html

www.scpcg.org is our guild's website. The message board is no longer working because the hosting company has gone out of business. E-mail Sharon or Debbie if you have ideas on where to host a new one.

October Clay Day: October 26 from approx. 11:00 a.m.-- 4 or 5:00 p.m. Laurel Gardens, 21 Bradley Rd, Woodbridge. Thanks to Deborah Edery for arranging this.

Lynne volunteered to host a swap. Topic: Faux Beads Sign-up with Lynne (riverpoet@aol.com) and let her know what type of faux you would like to do. Due on or before November meeting. The hole needs to be approx the size of a toothpick or needle tool.

We discussed classes for the guild, contact Sharon with ideas for instructors.

The idea of a possible road trip to a Rhode Island Guild meeting was discussed. Check with Laura O or Lynne.

Bead Bazaar results: 9/14/02 Holiday Inn in North Haven. 30+ vendors. We sold, demo'd, and promoted the guild. Total sales were $687.50, which was less than last year.Sales to guild members: 8 out 33 sales. Bead sets accounted for 46% of sales, necklaces & pendants 10%, individual beads 37%, pins 6%. Items mounted on cards with logos sold better. NO items in bags next year. A discussion of improvements in sales techniques followed.

Deborah Edery had a few new ideas for BOH, using injection bottles for fertility treatments to make BOH fertility goddesses.

There was a break for the Post Bead Bazaar Bead Sale and Ice Cream & champagne to celebrate the Guild's anniversary.

Show & Tell followed

Meeting adjourned at 2:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
