=====Bottles of Hope

We made 95 bottles in the workshop. (95 bottles of hope on the wall, 95 bottles of hope, take one down and pass it around, 94 bottles of hope on the wall!) Tracy has received several wonderful emails from people who appreciate the program, are starting their own workshops, or who can save bottles for us.

=====Guild Help Needed

We need to schedule demos for the meetings, and would like to have more members participate in giving them. We are currently looking for demos for the May, June and July meetings. Let us know if you have something in mind!

Diane Villano will be teaching a one-day intermediate “Caning Your Vision” workshop at Guilford Art Center, March 4. Contact Diane for more info: Diane.Villano@yale.edu

Lynne Schwarzenberg will be teaching an Intensive Flower Cane Workshop in Bridgeport on February 25, 10-7. Contact Lynne for more info: riverpoet@adelphia.net

MINUTES FROM THE APRIL 2006 MTG OF SCPCG
4/16/06
Meeting called to order at 12:15 pm
There were 14 members and 1 guest at the April Meeting.
Welcome to new members Eleanor Bradley from Hamden and Karen Chudy from New Haven.

Demo by Lisa on the Dimensional Flowers.

Gerry Pieper won the raffle chain and will be donating the next item for the raffle.

Christy will do a demo in May on making molds.
The meeting will be at the library next month, and after that at the Beachhouse. Lunch will be at the Sandpiper across the street.

Lynne is writing a book for Lark Books on caning. She went to CHA in January with Jeannie Havel of PCPolyzine. She introduced her to Lark and Lynne had her book proposal with her. It has been expanded from flower canes to all canes. There will be photography and illustrations, 3-5 guest project artists, and a big gallery.

Clay Connection registration is now open. Forms are up on the SCPCG website.
Dianne for prices for insurance - we can remain at $1million this year. Rooms are the same but food went up a bit. The massage therapist is lined up and Polymer Clay Express is coming.
Tracy will make nametag prototypes for May and Sharon will bring an example of last retreat's design.
Promotion can now begin - Lynne and others.
Dianne will check to see if a room check can be done ahead of time on Thursday night.
Bring a timer or provide a time check for demos and try to deflect questions.
Friday night icebreaker ideas
- Do you have… List of items, include a weirdest thing category
- Need 75 prizes - Lisa and Dianne
The slide show will be Saturday night, Michelle R will MC. Attendees can bring up to 3 slides as well.
Sharon will bring tablecloths.
Letter beads will be used for the bead strands and Lynne will continue the self service bead station.
Loreen will be organizing a cane swap Saturday night.
Local members will bring handcarts to assist people with moving heavy loads when unloading or loading.
Fees: Full - $220 shared, $260 single $170 for commuters

Demo ideas:
Name canes and other ways to sign your work. Bring your signed work for June.
Getting started with business and selling your work for July.

Bottles of Hope is revived. There is an endless demand for bottles and people will be saving them. The Oncology units will be looking forward to getting more.
