===== Special Fundraiser
Polymer Clay Central, the fabulous and informative website mastered and
maintained
by our own extended guild member Leigh Ross is having a fundraiser.
They are selling Sandpaper to try to help raise funds to keep the PCC web
site going.
PCC is getting 150,000 hits A DAY!!!! And this has caused their web
host to get a little gunky with them,
so their hosting bill at the end of the
month is getting bigger and bigger.
Leigh found some wonderful FULL SIZED sheets of sandpaper (9 x 11") to
sell,
and each order includes a great sanding tip sheet that is informative for
even the most seasoned sanders among us.
It’s just $10.00 for one each of 8 grits from 220 to 2000.
This week a new package will become available with 2 each of 2000 1500 1200
1000.
For the same 10.00 price, and oh, by the way, it's free shipping!!!!
The information is all on the web site and you can pay with paypal or through
the mail.
Leigh will also bring some sandpaper with her to sell at the
"weekend of clay event" if she decides to teach a class on sanding.
===== Bottles of Hope
Diane received a call from the director of the Yale Physicians Bldg
where we have Bottles of Hope on display through March.
She wanted to know if we
would consider donating some bottles for a permanent exhibit there.
Diane put it
to a vote and there was a unanimous yes vote.
====Guild Help Needed
Promotion Coordinator – someone to help get the word out about the guild
and our programs.
Please contact Sharon or Diane if you are interested in
volunteering for this position.
=====Traveling Exhibit
A big thank you to Arlene McNeely for continuing in her
position as the Traveling Exhibit Coordinator for 2003.
In January, the exhibit will be in Glastonbury
In February, it goes to Cheshire.
===== Minutes from November 16, 2002
Meeting called to order at 11:15 am
Diane Villano gave a demo of Kumihimo Japanese braiding techniques.
There were 16 members in attendance.
The Traveling Exhibit was displayed so that everyone could see it and remove
some of their items if they wished
and see if there is anything that should be
added.
The exhibit will be in Glastonbury in January 2003 and in Cheshire in
February.
The Faux Swap was a great success. Thanks to Lynne for organizing it.
BOH – Diane received a call from the director of the Yale Physicians Bldg
where we have Bottles Of Hope
on display through March. She wanted to know if we
would consider donating some bottles for a permanent exhibit there.
Diane put it
to a vote and there was a unanimous yes vote.
Guildford Handcraft Center – Anyone who has taken classes from Jan 2002 to
present is invited
to be part of a student exhibit in the medium in which they
took classes.
The exhibit runs from Feb 8-23. They will be receiving work from
Jan 31- Feb 2.
December meeting – Annual Tag Sale & Pot Luck Lunch. Tracy VanBuskirk
hosts and arranges this.
Donate items to be priced at $1.00. Also bring a Pot
Luck Lunch item to share. Bring any serving utensils you need.
Plates &
forks will be provided. Figure that there will be approximately 25 people who
will want a taste of everything.
Sharon proposed that the guild use some of the money in the treasury to set
up a weekend of classes
with qualified guild members as teachers. The guild
would subsidize the teachers’ fees
so guild members would be able to enjoy a
discounted weekend
(Sat morning & afternoon – Sun morning & afternoon
with the work area available in the evening)
Diane will be talking to the Foxon
(east Haven) Fire Department about using space at the firehouse.
Possibly
January or February. Sharon will provide details as soon as they are available.
Clay Day at Laurel Gardens was a great success. Many thanks to Deborah Edery.
It was a great location. Unfortunately not many members were able to attend.
Thanks to Janice & Libby who brought in goodies.
We also celebrated
Sharon’s birthday during the break & admired the Traveling Exhibit.
Meeting adjourned at 1:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynne Ann Schwarzenberg
