+BOTTLES OF HOPE

+ We still need more Bottles of Hope.
Diane Gregoire emailed out an appeal and Tracy needs more for the Relay for Life.
Please bring completed bottles to the meeting.
+ The Bottles of Hope workshop at Laurel Gardens was very productive. We made around 50 bottles and had help from some of the residents. Thank you Diane V., for helping some of the older ladies with bottle production. I think they made more than we did *G*!
We still need more bottles, so bring them in to the meeting if you can.

The "Relay for Life" in Bethel will be May 16.
+ Leigh Ross is planning on writing an article for PolymerCafe on the Bottles of Hope.
" I would appreciate any and all information, insight, stories, feelings etc... From any of you to work into an article that is both informative as well as interesting. I'd like to know everything that has happened to the BOH project for the CT guild and how it's touched all the other guilds that have been involved as well as give a call for all the guilds to adopt the BOH idea in their areas!!!"

==== Book Review
POLYMER CLAY EXTRAVAGANZA by Lisa Pavelka
The author's aim was to write a book for beginners as well as for experienced adult clay artists. Projects range from a simple snowman ornament greeting card to an elaborate garden angel.

Beginning with the basics, section show the Skinner blend, and moves into millefiori caning. Snakes are gathered around a center and wrapped in another color. Later in the book, they are pinched into leaf shapes to form hearts, flowers, leaves and angel wings.

The first section, Polymer Clay and Paper Crafts, gives directions for making a love magnet card, snowman ornament card and a scrapbook combining clay with a silver metal emboss sheet.

Polymer Clay and Jewelry is especially original. A heart locket pin opens to show a photo. A spirit song amulet uses a ball-point pen as an armature. Bake it, remove the pen, make end caps and decoration. Next comes a heart pendant that resembles dichroic glass, due to the use of fabric foil (Jones Tones).

Many attractive pieces are shown in the gallery, to inspire experienced artists as well as beginners.

===== MINUTES FROM THE March 15, 2003 MTG OF SCPCG

There were 14 members at the March meeting.
Welcome Lisa Gauthier from Milford, who joined the guild in Feb.

Thank you Jody for your demonstration on yet another way to use Liquid Sculpy. We love making our own texture sheets!

The results of the board meeting were presented, and guild members were asked for input on many issues. Our membership list was updated. The BoH website is a work in progress, but coming along. It can be seen at http://www.bottlesofhope.org/
Guild membership is asked for any input on the Guild Website http://www.scpcg.org/ Members are asked to bring in 1 or 2 items of their work to be photographed and included in a Gallery on the Guild Website. If you already have online photos of your work, you can email it directly to Lynn S. riverpoet@aol.com

There are some videos missing from our guild library. Please check your shelves!

Updated pages to the membership book were handed out.

We have a catalogue from Krause publications. (http://www.krause.com/ ) The guild can make a ‘group order’ and get large discounts. Catalogue will be available at the April meeting, or contact Diane Villano if you cannot make the meeting.

The guild aquired 2 new books, and if you write a review you may have them for one month free rental. Polymer Clay Extravaganza is one

Tracy is involved with the Relay for Life again this year. She needs about 200 BoH. (some were produced at the Laurel Gardens event on April 5th, but more are needed. Diane G. needs more finished bottles also.)

Genevieve was presented with the Birthday gift from the Guild. A decorative plate, covered in a mosaic of patterned hearts made by many of the guild members, and beautifully assembled and finshed off by Sharon M. Happy Birthday Genevieve!

The Chrysalis Brooche donated by Elise Winters will be raffled at the April meeting. (See her webpage, top center for similar design to the one we will be raffling. http://www.elisewinters.com/work/work.html )

Respectfully submitted,
